CLAPPING TECHNIQUES
Young infants:
♫ Children 9 months old and younger enjoy having you hold their hands and clap them together.
Older infants and toddlers:
♫ Try not to hold onto older children’s hands during clapping activities. Rather, have the child rest his/her palms on top of your palms. Tap up onto the child’s palms while reciting the rhyme or singing the song. After a short time, do the activities with the child’s hands resting in yours but do not move. Often the child will provide the missing action, clapping onto your hands.
