PIANO

Dolce Voce Music Studio offers piano lessons to students of all ages and levels.

We welcome adults who always dreamed to play piano for their personal enjoyment because it’s a great enrichment to start
learning an instrument and be able to play music.

Children may start as early as six year old.
The great advantage of taking piano lessons at an early age is that the habits and skills developed will carry over into every
aspect of a child’s life as he or she matures. Students will learn to be critical listeners as well as readers and performers of
music.
Here are some other advantages:
-        young children develop reasoning process and methodical learning
-        coordination of small and large muscles
-        one-to-one structured learning between teacher and student helps the young child focus on learning and develop
concentration
-        practicing on a regular basis helps young children organize their time and creates discipline in their lives (it is easier to
make consistent practice a habit as they has fewer extra-curricular activities and homework)
-        completing weekly assignments, building a foundation at the piano and receiving quality time, attention and praise
from adults can help a young child build confidence
-        the variety of skills learned through piano practice are easily translated to other areas of academic endeavor.

At Dolce Voce Music Studio technic is addressed and emphasized from the very beginning.

1) Pre-reading material
is provided to help a child focus on:
-        developing small and large muscle coordination
-        developing a good hand position
-        producing a good tone with economy of motion
-        listening for tones that project.

2) Complete keyboard knowledge:
Students gain a working knowledge of keyboard geography and play pieces that use the full range of the piano.

3) Strong rhythmic background:
Through clapping, tapping, singing and playing small percussion instruments students are learning to relate the visual notation to
the auditory duration.

4) Sight-reading skills:
Pre-reading notation prepares the student to read staff notation. It serves three very important purposes:
-        students play piano and learn to coordinate their fingers to move directionally (up and down)
-        students learn to recognize notes and make sense of the notes by counting their note value names aloud
-        students learn to play and count aloud while keeping their eyes on the music
